  • This position is responsible for management of social work staff across 3 inpatient units, as well as the Psychiatry Emergency Services team.

    ***The position may be filled up to 40 hours, and the hours could be split between services.

    Job Purpose: A manager in social work within the Department of Psychiatry is a vital member of the service. The diversity of the population served in addition to the treatment modalities utilized requires interdisciplinary expertise and collaboration. The manager in social work works autonomously and provides administrative as well as clinical supervision to staff and trainees (social work as well as members of other disciplines). They provide evaluation and treatment to patients who can derive maximum benefit from inpatient care across the spectrum of programs offered within the department. They may provide programmatic administrative leadership, such as leading a team, and may serve on the inpatient and/or emergency services management or leadership team of one or more service sites.

    The Social Work Manager coordinates social work and caseworker staffing, including coverage for time off and vacancies. Provides orientation and supervision for all social workers and caseworkers within the services, and completes comprehensive performance reviews for all staff.

    The Social Work Manager is expected to provide coverage within the inpatient and emergency services as needed.
Requirements:

Master's degree in Social Work

Current MA licensure as LICSW (Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker)

Must be credentialed by the CHA Medical Staff Office for practice in relevant clinical practice areas.

Minimum of five years' experience post-Master's degree, preferably working in an inpatient psychiatry setting.

Experience/training in child and adolescent psychiatry required.
