Status: Regular, full-time, exempt

Salary: $67,808 (License-eligible with ASW, IMF or Associate LPCC)

$80,000 (Licensed with LCSW, MFT or LPCC)

Schedule: General operating hours are Monday – Friday: 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. Start and end times may vary. Must be available to work until 8 p.m., two evenings per week to meet the various needs of the program.

The Youth Prevention & Intervention (YPI) Youth & Family Development Associate (YFDA)- Probation Regional Clinician will be responsible for providing trauma-informed mental health services to youth placed on Juvenile Probation in the South Region of San Diego County. Services will be in keeping with agency goals, objectives, mission, and style and provided within a team framework. Incorporated into the SBCS Youth Prevention & Intervention Team, the Probation Regional Clinician is stationed directly in the South Bay Probation Office to best partner with Probation Officers to meet youth needs, foster success, and reduce recidivism. The Probation Regional Clinicians provide clinical consultation, mental health assessments, service recommendations and therapeutic services as needed. The Probation Regional Clinician is responsible for working with the team in developing team goals and objectives and in meeting those goals and objectives, including but not limited to:


DUTIES:

  • Provides a range of culturally responsive, quality trauma-informed services to program clients that may include individual, family and group counseling, clinical case management, wraparound services, and other services including goals and objectives agreed upon with client.
  • Provides mental health services and assessments to facilitate referrals and linkages to designated programs. These may include, but are not limited to behavioral health services, mental health programs, substance abuse treatment programs, educational programs, employment opportunities, housing, recreation & physical activities, and other health and social services.
  • Work with Juvenile Probation Officers to assist in the design and implementation of treatment plans for juvenile offenders.
  • Work in tandem with the Juvenile Probation Officers to facilitate the youth's successful engagement in services, including crisis management, crisis intervention and counseling when needed.
  • Provide support and recommendations to Juvenile Probation Officers for case progress review to reduce probation violations.
  • Participate in training and implement various evidence-based therapeutic models, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Trauma Affect Regulation: Guide to Education and Therapy (TARGET), to fidelity.
  • Work in partnership with identified treatment programs to support case plan goals, youth engagement in services and compliance to case plan and treatment goals.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary teams, case conferences and other meetings as mutually agreed upon with County Staff.
  • Collect data, input case notes, and maintain case records and client files in the Probation Case Management System (PCMS) and the Efforts to Outcomes (ETO) database as required by SBCS and its funding sources.
  • Coordinate contacts with other public and private organizations and individuals, as necessary to effectively serve clients.
  • Transports clients in a safe and secure manner in matters related to service delivery.
  • Monthly statistical reports of services provided as required by SBCS.
  • Outreach to target population to effectively reach those in need of services.
  • Participation in special projects and activities, as related to agency's goals and objectives.
  • Participation in agency special events, such as fundraisers, annual meetings, and open houses.
  • Ability to work with a diverse cultural population and exercise independent judgement.
  • Participation and assistance in implementing program components.
  • Attends all agency required meetings and training.

  • Master's degree in social work, psychology, or related degree with current BBS registration as LCSW, MFT, LPCC OR ASW, IMF or Associate LPCC.
  • Minimum 1 - 2 years' experience in child, youth, and family services field. Experience should preferably have been in a community based or neighborhood service organization.
  • Experience in the areas of individual, group, and family counseling, outreach, community education and development, advocacy, and case management.
  • Adult role model with the ability to effectively set limits and function in crisis-oriented and high stress situations.
  • Flexibility to provide clinical support at client's homes, the Probation Office, or other locations accessible to clients.
  • Experience in the areas of individual, group, and family counseling, outreach, community education and development, advocacy, and case management.
  • Knowledge of trauma informed care, cognitive based therapy, Positive Youth Development, and/or restorative practices is desired.
  • Demonstrate initiative, resourcefulness, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work with confidential information.
  • Bilingual - English/Spanish, required.
  • Ability to work with a diverse population, possess cultural sensitivity, and maintain appropriate boundaries with clients.

Conditions of Employment

  • Employment may be conditioned upon satisfactory completion of certain background clearances which may include a Department of Justice criminal background check requiring my fingerprints (Live Scan), screening through the National Sex Offender Public Website, Probation Clearances, drug test, tuberculosis (TB) test, and such additional clearances as may be required under the program.
  • Candidates/employees who have received a conditional offer of employment will be required to undergo testing for controlled substances, (including THC and CBD), in accordance with the County of San Diego's drug and alcohol policy and the federal Controlled Substances Act.
  • Candidate is required to have reliable transportation; therefore, the candidate must successfully complete a motor history check. Candidate must also possess and maintain a current valid California driver's license and valid auto insurance policy. (Approximate 10% - 15% of the time.)

Physical demands:

  • Mentally and emotionally: Ability to work under deadlines, various projects and dealing with clients in crisis and difficult situations.

  • Handling: Seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with objects or office machinery.
  • Communicating: Expressing or exchanging ideas. Communicating is important for those activities in which workers must impart information to clients or to the public, and in those activities in which they must convey detailed or important instructions to other workers accurately, or quickly.
